In an interview, if a school asks how many schools you applied to, and even if they can/can't see how many and which ones I still believe lying can come back to bite. For those who apply to 15+ schools, how should we go about answering this question justifying that we applied to many schools to increase our chances, but maybe focus the attention on THEM and why we would want to go there. Any help is appreciated!

Say that although this is my top choice for whatever reasons, your ultimate goal is to become a dentist and to get into a program. The competitive nature of applications renders it necessary to apply to different schools.

Truthfully, would be a good start.

I applied to 21 Schools, I think I was asked this once or twice. I would start by saying while your school is one my top choices, in the end I really want to be a dentist and will go to any school to do that. Then I would talk about my dedication to the profession.
