How to approach Columbia secondary essay

I quoted an essay from Willian Carlos Williams....it took up half of the essay, but I think it was a random thing to do. I haven't been rejected yet!

I feel like mine was just really honest and kind of heartfelt...i talked about a whole range of things, including examples...i tried to cover all the bases, but not saying anything i don't personally believe...i don't think it was particularly creative though
and i got an interview!

I took the same approach. I had an interview last year. I wouldn't go crazy over it - I'm sure they want an honest answer rather than something that sounds made-up. The time to sound contrived is when/if you get to the point where you have to kiss dr. frantz's feet in order to try and get off the waitlist... All I got from that was a bad taste in my mouth though. Best of luck.
