Hello, I'm an American high school student and next year I will be attending the University of British Columbia. I'm not a Canadian citizen, but UBC is the perfect fit for me and I'm ecstatic about going there. Is a Canadian undergraduate degree going to be a hurdle if I take the MCAT and apply to medical schools in the US later on? Or, would I have more success applying to Canadian medical schools and seeking permanent residence in Canada?
I acknowledge that I'm very young to be asking about this and I don't know how I'll be doing by the time I begin to apply if I choose to do so, but I'm having trouble finding internet resources, given that my situation is sort of unique (not a Canadian citizen but going to school in Canada). Thank you!

Canada is the only other country from which AMCAS accepts transcripts. Thus, you should have no problems with your US application.
US applicants are extraordinarily unlikely to successfully matriculate into Canadian medical schools, however.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it! Do you know why they are usually unsuccessful with Canadian schools, just out of curiosity?

I believe that it is a combination of small numbers of US applicants and a mission to provide physicians for Canada.
You can check out how rare it is on MSAR. The last time I looked, it was a minute proportion.

Ah, I see. Thank you, I think I would be happy applying to either, and I may attempt to apply to both.
