How to become eligible to retake the DAT for the 4th time?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
no...its a rule now...you can only take dat for 3 times!

No you can request permission to take the DAT after a 3rd take. Check the ADA's website regarding this issue. I don't recall what you must submit in order to be granted an additional attempt.

The ADA website states that:

Requests for additional testing must be submitted in writing to the Department of Testing Services and must include evidence of current (within the previous 18 months) intent to apply to dental school. Acceptable forms of evidence include:

.A copy of a completed and submitted application to dental school.

.A letter of rejection from a dental school.

.A letter from a dental school admissions officer encouraging you to retest or reapply.

[FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman]Just to clarify something, in order to obtain permission, does this mean that I would need to submit all of the listed things or just one? Thanks.

i know someone that got denied from a school they really wanted to go to mainly because of the DAT, and all they did to be allowed to retake the test was have someone in admissions write the ADA with a request for them to retake. that was it, no other "papers" were required because the schools that denied you have all the other stuff they the ADA asks for (old app, school denial letter, etc...)

I took the DAT for a 4th time, and recieved two acceptances this year. I just had a letter from a school stating they would like me to retake the DAT and they rejected me due to the poor score on the DAT. Thanks

Did your scores significantly improve with each time? Thanks.
