Here is my issue: I applied to both PM&R and Internal medicine because I was not 100% on PMR after my first Rotation. I wanted to do a 2nd rotation before I commit. Well, my only rotation available was in November so I decided to apply both and when I make my mind up I would canel interviews.

Well, Ive pretty much made up my mind for PMR already. Since I need an IM prelim for many of my PMR programs, I wanted to switch my IM cat to IM prelim. How should I do this? Should I call or emial the IM programs and ask if they will switch me? Do I have to do something through ERAS? Will they most likely loose interest and want to cancel my interveiws?

Each program has a Categorical and Prelim track. You can simply add the Prelim track on your application. This doesn't cost anything -- applying to the program is what costs money, you can apply to as many tracks as you want.

When you get called for interviews, just be clear that you are only interested in a prelim.

I doubt anyone will lose interest. You've changed your mind, and now you want a prelim. No big deal.
