How to classify service activity with stipend?

Hi,

My third and fourth years of college I was in student government in very service-based roles. I worked on food security and basic needs stuff for students, directly and in a leadership position. Student government in my school is paid, but very small ($40/week my first year, then $60/week my second). The number of hours I did this per week is much more than my stipend covered.

I was going to put this under social justice/advocacy, but I saw they just replaced that with community health advocacy, and I'm not sure if food security really falls under that. I don't think I should put this under paid employment, since I wasn't doing it for very small amount of money and it wasn't hourly.

Is it okay if I put it under Community Service/Volunteer – Not Medical/Clinical? And maybe mention that I received a small weekly stipend for the role? This was a really big part of my college career and it's one of my most meaningful activities.

There was at least one paid employment role I accidentally labeled community service. It's fine... call it whatever you feel comfortable with (I think leadership/advocacy can be appropriate). It didn't seem like anybody noticed or cared.

Honestly, it is not a large enough stipend to be considered "compensation" in the way your evaluators are likely to define it.

Don't waste precious real estate on your application to talk about this. $40 is like a down payment on an Erewhon wellness smoothie.
