I am an undergraduate junior at ucdavis in the major exercise biology. I looked at classes required for schools such as UCSF, Sacramento State, Long Beach..etc, and each college seems to have maybe 70-80% overlap in terms of classes while the other classes are different. I expect to graduate on time (4 years) and it seems very difficult to accomodate all these "extra" classes for each of these colleges. What are suggestions for how i should go about taking these classes so that i can apply to a variety of different PT schools in california versus aiming for just one PT school by taking only that PT school's required "extra" classes? Any response is appreciated--Thank You.

I would take a look at the schools you are interested in and go for those classes so you qualify for those classes, you may have to take a year off from full time school to finish your prerequisites or you could take 18+ credits to get all the classes you need. What classes do you think you will be missing?

Some schools may allow as many as 2 courses to be incomplete at time of acceptance as long as you can take them before the program starts.

As an EXB major at UCD you need to take the following courses for the State schools:
NPB 101L (not required in the EXB major)
Upper division psychology (not required in the EXB major)
lower division psychology (not required in the EXB major)
Pathophysiology (not offered at UCD)
Pharmacology (not offered at UCD)

I had plenty of time to take the additional courses, just make sure you plan ahead. I took patho (online) and pharma in the year in between undergrad and PT school. Everything else that is a pre-requisite for PT school, should be covered by the EXB major coursework. If you have any questions or need a more detailed response, feel free to PM me.
