How to do Case Presentation

Hello all,

I'm an MS3 finishing up my anesthesia rotation. My attending wants me to do a Case Presentation tomorrow. I am not familiar with the format of an anesthesia case. Could someone possibly give me a quick idea of the format and neccessary content I need to include in a case presentation? Thanks!

Do you mean he wants you to present a patient who is going to have surgery, and relate your anesthetic plan? Or do you mean he wants you to present a case that took place at some point during the rotation? Did the attending give you an idea of how much time he expects this to fill?

Have you ever been to surgery M&M? Pretty close.

Identifying statement w/ pertinent PMHx
Presenting from where for what procedure
Other relevant PMHx
Past Surgical & Anesthesia Hx
Medications
Allergies
Pertinent Review of Systems
Preop vitals
Airway, cardio, pulm exam
Relevant preop labs, imaging
Anesthetic Plan
Preop/Intraop/Postop events including whatever badness prompted the case presentation
"Returned to PACU/ICU/fast-tracked in stable/fair/critical condition..."
Discussion of mistakes/badness and review of relevant disease/syndrome/phenomenon/management.

Do you mean he wants you to present a patient who is going to have surgery, and relate your anesthetic plan? Or do you mean he wants you to present a case that took place at some point during the rotation? Did the attending give you an idea of how much time he expects this to fill?

He wants me to present on a patient's case that I had encountered at some point during the rotation.
