Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with retrospective clinical studies, especially in a private clinical setting? What sort of patient consent/privacy forms are necessary to complete such research, and what journals are best for such kind of research (esp. internal medicine)?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Old thread, but I'm also very interested in this. Does anyone know how the IRB process works for private clinics?

^^^ditto

I have access to my dad's data and patient records from ~15 years of multi drug treatment of diabetes, with regular HbA1c and insulin levels for a variety of patient types (organ transplant, super high blood glucose/A1c showing substantial improvement, etc.) Most of this data is unpublished anywhere, and nothing with the longitudinal aspect. Stat analysis would have to be done, but otherwise it's just a matter of writing it up.
I have no idea where to start though, in terms of logistics and patient consent/ human subject issues.

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
