Hey guys,

I'd like your opinion on the section of the app where you can explain any flaws in your academic record. I had two bad semesters my sophomore year. I am an independent student and I was working three jobs to make ends meet and I unfortunately let school take the back seat and ended up failing some classes. I have been a 3.9 student since. I just am not sure how to get it across that that was a one time occurrence. I also don't want to sound like I am making excuses for my poor grades. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I would explain it just like that honestly. The biggest thing I think they are a looking for is why did it happen and what have you changed so that it won't happen again. I think as long as you admit that you made the mistake and that you fixed the problem you should be ok. Plus most school will love that upward trend of yours.... just my two cents.

Thanks for your input! I'm really worried this will hold me back but I guess I just have to be honest!

I think you answered your own question! Be honest about your story, show that you learned something from it and most importantly that you bounced back and you are killing it now. My 2 cents
