How to find health-related volunteering soon?

I decided that I wanted to become a doctor after college, and will be applying next summer. In the meantime, I'm trying to study for the MCAT and get as much volunteering in as possible. However, it seems that it is impossible to get a volunteer position in a timely manner. All the places I've called are either full, or need several months of time before I actually can start volunteering. I don't have much time. What options do I have other than volunteering at hospitals?

So you decided to be a doctor AFTER college yet you are applying next year/studying for MCAT now? How did you finish your prereqs so soon?

I was a bio major so I had pretty much all my prereqs done.
