Hi, so I know it’s early in the season for application updates post secondaries. However, I submitted all of my apps in July or early August without a plan for my gap year. I basically said I was exploring new opportunities because I wasn’t sure yet. Now, I have a job and my volunteer/research activities are solidified. How would I format this when I send an update? Like a letter? Or just a paragraph? Please let me know!!

A format to consider: The letter should brief. Address it to the Admissions Committee or Dean of Admissions.

To Whom it May Concern:

I would like you to be aware of [updates or Gap Year plans] pertinent to my application in case it may help you make a decision on my file.
-Summer or Fall GPA, perhaps mentioning some classes relevant to med school, if known.
-Newly begun activities where you are past the probation period and have accumulated some hours.
*Job
*Volunteer
*Shadowing
*Research
*Publications, presented posters, etc
-Any added ongoing activity hours since you submitted (if significant).

Thank you for your consideration,
