I just finished my freshman year and am applying for a special medical honors program Spring of sophomore year that guarantees my place in medical school at UF. I currently have a 3.95 GPA (hoping to keep 3.9+ by spring next year). I need a minimum of 3, and a maximum of 5 letters of recommendation. Since I'm only a freshman, who/how can I get good letters. My genetics professor knows me well and knows how hard I work because I'm the only freshman in that class of mostly juniors and seniors and managed to pull off an A after seeing him many times in office hours. However, other than asking him questions every 2 weeks. I don't really interact with him any other way and have no interest in the subject. I am also working in a lab now and can probably get my PI to write a letter. I am also participating in an REU this summer and would love to get a rec letter from the mentor I'll be working with (he has a B.A. from Yale). But I really want a letter from my orgo 1/2 professor I will have next semester, since that is a subject I'm passionate about and would love to see him in office hours.

Just go ask these people you mentioned, plus anybody else you want to ask. OP, if you are seeking approval because you are insecure about your accomplishments, SDN won't give you that. You got to learn to make decisions for yourself and be proud of them. Confidence only comes from within.

How TF have you taken genetics as a freshman.

You'd need to take bio 1&2 with labs plus micro and maybe even Cell before being ALLOWED to take genetics. At best you'd take it late sophomore year

2/10 trolling. Try harder.

I'm also a freshman taking genetics, my school only requires gen bio which can be knocked down by an ap cred

Be a 10/10 student. Also, nobody in any scientific field cares where you got your BA from. Only your doctoral degree.

I took genetics as a freshman second semester.
All that was required was the intro-bio sequence and Cell and Molecular Biology (One Class). With AP Bio you can do Genetics second semester.

Dare I feed the troll but here goes
Put together a packet when you ask your professors. Include, CV, PS, ECs, and a bunch of information about you. Let them know what qualities to highlight, and provide the AAMC brochure for letter writers. Make sure they understand the overall focus of your application and how their letter will supplement it.
