Hey guys. I'm going into my freshmen year of college and I'm almost done with getting my EMT-B certification. I've read past threads on working as an EMT and understand that most adcoms look down on EMT experience for clinical experience which makes a lot of sense since it is not in the hospital setting. So I'm wondering how can I get into a ER-Tech position as soon as I can with a EMT-B certification?

Where you live makes the most difference. For example, most hospitals around me only hire EMT-A or paramedics for ER tech jobs since it is a saturated healthcare market. If you are going to be a new EMT with no experience, I would just look at online job boards and dont count out getting an ambulance job

I have to agree that it is dependent on the location. I am from Cincinnati and I must have gotten lucky because I applied for an ER tech position with zero experience and I was accepted. They sent me to STNA school and then trained me at the hospital. I am one of two people here in the ED that isn't in nursing school....
