How to get a job as a 911 operator

What does one have to do to become a 911 operator or a crisis call operator? I want to either one, but how would I go about doing it?

You would usually have to be hired by the county/state you work for, and possibly have to obtain training such as EMT in order to qualify for the medical side. For our county, we have 48 hour shifts X_X

I believe you may need an additional cert to become a 911 operator, in addition to some EMS training. This varies of course by state.

If you think being an EMT is a rough job, I can't imagine what being 911 dispatch would be like.
