I have a year between now and when I will be starting my post-bac. I'm looking for some kind of job related to dentistry to pass my time. There are quite a few dental labs in my area, both large and small.

I was wondering how one goes about getting a job in a dental lab as a technician. I have zero experience in the area, so how would I go about getting hired. Do you just walk in and fill out an application? Do they train you on the job or is there some sort of class/certification required? I'm wondering if they'll even want to take the time to train me since I can only work there a year. Do I tell them I'm a pre-dent or would they not like this (because I can only commit for so long)?

Anyone want to weigh in with their experience?

Step one: Apply, they may give you some tests similar to the DAT PA section and also some phsycomotor stuff.
Step Two: If you tell them that you are going to dental school they may not hire you. Why? It takes time and money to train staff. Be honest, let them know you will do what ever they need you for and if they need you they will hire you.
