Hello!

I'm a student at Concordia University in Cedar Park, Texas. I need a job! Does anyone know what I can do to look for or get a job in a medical environment? I need some advice. What kind of jobs do doctors and dentists have before med/dental school?

Thanks!!!

Hi!

Do you live near a major city that has a Craigslist, or are you planning on relocating to one? I've had premed/dent friends find nice jobs in the biotech and health job sections...some typical stuff like office receptionist, research slave but also more interesting stuff like medical assistant, dental assistant, patient care coordinator at a hospital and even making prosthetics for amputees! Another idea for a premed is to get trained as an EMT and do that.

Hi Neuro5! 🙂

I did a quick search on Google and found a school that one of my friends took for his medical assistant training. He said that he completed it within 6 months, qualified for financial aid, and that he gained a lot of experience quickly without having to deal with prereqs. It has many Texas campuses so hopefully it is in your area: Texas medical assistant program.

I hope this helps you!

I live in austin and there aren't many biotech jobs here. San antonio, houston, and dallas you'll find one with ease. Your best bet is to look at the state, city, hospitals, and search job sites.
