So I have been going through my past exams and I really notice that I seem to be getting the questions wrong that relate to the passage. By that I mean it is the type of questions that really require you to get information from the passage then make an answer from that.

All the other types of questions, that just require you to get numbers and calculate or the discretes seem to be perfectly fine. I was just wondering how people try to get a better understanding of the passages since that seems to be my last hurdle before I feel comfortable for my real exam. What I do now is try and map out the passages, I write a few words per paragraph just to keep myself engaged. However when it comes time to answer the questions, I forget the small points that can really point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I recommend reading the passage thoroughly and clearly on your first go round. I find that doing so will make the questions relating to the passage rather obvious. Try to focus on reading the passage to get a really complete understanding of what exactly is going on. Practice a lot.

I think I am good with getting the overall point of the passage, that is typically fine for me because I map out the general idea.

However there are some questions where I try to use my background knowledge to answer, but if I had remembered this ONE sentence in the passage I would have been fine. Typically I glance over that small detail and end up missing the question.
