How to get clinical research work?

I was wondering how you guys found work in clinical research.
I have since graduated from university, and am not affiliated with any university nearby ( where I live).

Tell me your stories please!

A friend of mine was leaving for medical school in Aug, so I got "hired" in June, spent 2 months volunteering, then took over his position.

I've been fortunate to have a summer job in clinical research the past four years. Unfortunately, the only reason why I have it is because I know somebody.

Why are you specifically looking at clinical research? Bench research is more than fine, and is seen as more 'pure' anyway.

Of course, if it is out of personal interest, then I am not sure because I don't think there are many undergrads normally involved in such projects so you might have to look around.
