Im at a CC and I was wondering is it possible to transfer from a CC to a BS/MD program. I wanted to attend a CC because I didn't do too well in HS. But now I have a 3.75 GPA and in my sophmore year at the CC. If I don't attend a BS/MD Program, I'm wondering how to get into med school since they look down upon CC transfers. My chosen major is Biomedical Engineering.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but usually BS/MD programs take students out of high school. If you're transferring as a sophomore/junior to a 4 year institution, I'm not sure you'd be able to be considered.

That being said, do your research on schools with BS/MD programs in your area. Look on their BS/MD webpages and see what the criteria are. If they don't specifically mention that you have to be a senior in high school to apply, contact them by phone or email and see if they would accept a transfer student into the program. When you apply, they want to see you've put a lot of thought into wanting to be a physician, so make sure you have volunteering/clinical experience/shadowing, to at least a moderate degree, and a strong answer to "Why medicine?" Best of luck!

Most likely if you weren't competitive in HS, a year or two at a CC isn't going to make you competitive for these programs.

Regardless, I'm not sure if any of these programs accept transfers. I know Brown's PMLE and Northwestern's HPME programs do not.

If I don't go to a BS/MD program, will med schools look down upon a CC student who transferred to a 4-year university?

Don't take my word for this, but I doubt it. There are schools that look down on taking pre-reqs (bio, gen chem, orgo, etc.) at CCs, so as long as you either a) save these classes for when you transfer, or b) take upper level bio and chem classes at a four year institution to prove you can handle more rigorous material, then you should be fine.

Ok thanks. But if I major in Biomedical Engineering, and take classes fo my major, that is the "I can handle rigourous coursework". right?

I meant if I take pre-meds at a CC and take upper-division courses at my university, med schools won't care?

some med schools will care. many will not.
however the consensus is that most concerns will disappear if you get a 3.7-4.0 in upper level science classes and kill the MCAT

1.) So basically while some med schools care if you attended a CC, while many don't?
2.) I can get into medical school if I do well at the CC and continue to do so at my 4-year and score 510+ on the MCAT?

For Albany and Drexel, yes. For Yale and Harvard, no.

is 508-510 good enough for the MCAT?

Yes and yes. But don't forget all the ECs.
