I'm having trouble understanding the instructions for obtaining letter of recs. Starting from using the "interfolio", is anyone able to guide me through step by step what to do in terms of getting my rec letters submitted, from contacting the teacher to getting them to write letters to them uploading them. where when how. As detailed as possible. I'm just so lost. Forgive me. I recently decided apply to dental school.

I will try to be as clear as I can haha
1. Ask your professors for a letter of rec sometime in late feb. or early march that way they will have ~3 months before the app. cycle begins to submit your letters
* When you ask for your letters, your professors usually ask for transcripts, DAT scores, resumé, and personal statement be sure to have a little folder prepared for your letter writers when they agree to write your letter.
* If I were you, I would ask more than the needed amount of professors to write you letters in case some forget or submit your letter too late. I would ask 1 dentist, 3 science professors, and 1 non-science
2. Pay your interfolio fee and set up your account. My account was set up through the health-professions department at my university I believe they provided me with a specific code to enter? Not all universities do this, if yours doesn't then just go ahead and pay the fee.
3. Contact your professors and let them know that you will be sending them an email with your interfolio unique ID and link to the site for them to complete your letter of rec.
4. log on to interfolio with your unique information and select "request a letter" then enter your professor's information and email
5. Once you enter this information into interfolio and send your confidential letter of recommendation request, it will be sent to your professor's email
6. Your professor will receive a link to interfolio in your email and it will give them a specific ID to submit your letter. Your professor needs to make a guest account and upload your letter onto the interfolio system. Once your professor has done this, the document will become available to you under documents
* MAKE SURE YOUR PROFESSOR SIGNS THE DOCUMENT WITH THEIR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE
(one of my letter writers didn't and I had to resend a signed one)
7. You will select "manage documents." From here you will able to select your documents and send them electronically to AADSAS (AADSAS's address should be programed in the service for easy selection)
8. Send thank-you cards to your professors for taking time out of their schedules to write your letters!
Good luck! I hope this made more sense.

When you got your letter of rec. Did your professor asks for your personal statement and DAT scores? I think I may be in the process where it may take a while for me to get those done.

Definitely have your personal statement done. Some of my professors did ask for my DAT score, but I think most would be understanding that you haven't taken it yet since a good portion of applicants apply first before taking the test. Your personal statement lets your professors know why you wanted to pursue dentistry so its really important that they have that foundation when they're writing your letter.
Hope this helps!
