Hi everyone,
I'm currently volunteering at a retail pharmacy. The pharmacist told me to give her the paper so she could check off how many hours I had worked for her. It is also a proof for me to show pharmacy schools that I have volunteered.

My question is where to get this paper? I meant like in high school, when I did community services, the teacher gave me this paper. Now I'm in UC Davis, I dont know what to do ... 🙄

Please help 😛😛😛

Did you receive this volunteer oppurtunity through the career center (ICC) at UC Davis? If you did, then they should have given you a form for your supervisor at your internship to keep track of your hours. After you turn that in, you will receive a notation on your transcript that you did an internship that quarter, and how many hours you volunteered.
That was how it was done when I was at Davis not too long ago.

You get it from the Internship and Career Center. You should have gotten it when you signed up for the internship. It really doesn't ''prove'' anything to pharmacy schools though. Mine never even showed up on my transcripts even though they assured me it would. Nevertheless, the LOR is what you ultimatley want and really is the only solid proof you've spent time in a pharmacy if you aren't on a pay roll.

If anything... you should keep the amount of hours yourself (personal log) if you can't have them "officially" recorded. And as calisoca mentioned, the LOR is what you ultimately want.

Yay for aggies! 😀

Yep, exactly. bring your personal statement (or reasons for pharmacy) and resume to the pharmacist and ask if he/she would write you a "needed" LOR. that's really all there is to it. but before you do, find out how you're going to handle the LOR. i'd call up a your assigned counselor (at UC Davis) for the "ideas".

Thank you so much guys ^_*

I know what to do now. I might have lost that paper when they gave it to me haha. Aniway, I guess I just work n then later ask her for a letter of recommendation. Maybe in the letter, she would mention how many hours I have worked.

By the way, I"m majoring in BioChem, so I should make an appointment to see my biochem counselor right?

Any counselor specializing in pre-med/pre-pharm/pre-dent counseling would really do. a biochem advisor wouldn't hurt either. most of them are familiar with handling LOR's (even your professors at school should know about it). however, for something like this, i'd call up a counselor & ask them a quick question about LOR's. and if you have more questions, maybe you should make an appointment. let us know how everything goes. good luck.

Sandy in the BMB office is really awesome if you need help, but if you know what you're doing you really don't need to see a counselor. She did help me out with planning by letting me know "you probably don't want to take those classes together.. just because you're taking physio 'for fun' doesn't mean it's not going to be hard.." If you're still in the planning stages, she tends to know when all the upper division classes will be offered for the next few years! I found that very helpful.

calisoca - I did get the transcript notation - it's nothing special. In fact, I think it looks a little lame on my transcript. 🙁 You're not missing anything!

horo1988, you may want to stop by the ICC and grab that paper. It should have an evaluation section for the pharmacist (or your tech supervisor or whatever) to evaluate you at the end of the quarter. You can use this to your advantage - make sure you're doing things that would earn you a high mark in these categories (being motivated, interacting with patients, I really don't remember what it says) - then you can be sure you've demonstrated things the pharmacist can write about you in your LOR!

Thanks kismet ^_^ I 'll definitely go n grab that paper tomorrow and make sure it would appear on my transcript haha (but why does it look lame?)

By the way, quite see a lot of Aggies in this forum ^_^ .... what school u guys got accepted in?

I'm planning to give a shot to UCSF and UOP this yr. My current GPA is 3.85 ... and gradually going down as I take more upper division courses (I guess haha)

Haha, maybe I'm just a perfectionist, but after line after line of units, class titles, and grades, you have this one little line that says "Internship: Rite Aid Pharmacy, 40 hours" or something similar and it just doesn't fit the rest of the format or really give any info about the internship.
