While I'm interested in physical therapy and may work with a PT for the next few years (which seems to be adequate experience for some of the programs I'm looking at), I am also interested in PA or NP programs.
The problem is a lot of programs want "direct patient experience". The programs accept people from jobs (preferably paid apparently?) such as nursing assistants, medical assistants, EMTs, etc. However, obviously these jobs require degrees that take 1-2 years to obtain in a decent program, and I'm in a 4-year university away from home and cannot dedicate this kind of time to another degree.
So my question is, what sort of job can I undertake that is "direct patient care" (without a degree) that will still look good on my application? I don't want to just volunteer at a hospital and fill water jugs as I have for the past 4 years. Do people recommend I obtain a degree as a CMA online?
