So I'm in my first month and a half of college and I've been generally receiving B grades. I'm taking biology, calculus, philosophy of science, and a first year seminar.

How can I go from Bs to As? Am I doomed? I go to a Little Ivy school.

It is harder for you than average if you go to an Ivy League school, but you're not doomed. Just spend more time studying and practicing. And make sure you're studying smart. Use Anki to memorize when appropriate, such as for biology classes. For chemistry, physics, and math classes, spend more time solving practice problems. Understand the concepts deeply. Use them in your daily life as often as you can. Learn to appreciate them and value them for their own sake, marvel at their elegance and simplicity, because you'll remember them better. If you sacrifice more of your time and attention this way, you will do better.

@kw18 Erase the bottom portion of your B's until they begin to resemble A's. The importance is making sure to erase the bottom line without affecting the supporting structure of what is currently working. For instance, erasing the middle portion of what is the bulk of a B could be the beginning of a C.

What does the gem of pretension "little ivy" represent haha? If you only get Bs (3.0 gpa) you are possibly doomed. Change how you are studying or study more until you get As. Otherwise those Bs may become something much more damning with harder material.

Don't afraid to do things differently from how you've been doing. College is totally a different game from high school. Now is a good time to figure out how YOU study the best.
Things to consider:
1. Do you do your readings on time? Throughly? Review your notes EVERYDAY? (Especially for biology??)
2. Do you think you study better with other people or by yourself?
3. Are grades from your classes mostly from exams/quizzes, or homework/projects?
4. Do you give yourself enough time to study/practice for exams?
5. Do you start a writing assignment or project as soon as it is assigned?
6. Do you ask professors questions ASAP when you don't understand something?
7. Do you ask for feedback on your writing? Do you edit at all?
8. Do you get enough sleep? How about exercise?
9. Are you doing too much ECs that you can't find time to study?
10. Do you procrastinate???

If its a Bio course use Anki and get 95-100% on every test.
