I'm a Med student and my school requires a certain number of shadowing or research hours between semesters. I'm new to the field and don't know enough to fully keep up with a run-of-the-mill doctor yet. I plan on shadowing a Family Physician this semester and was wondering what I could do to prepare for it, so as to maximize the learning experience and hopefully impress. Also, any advice on which types doctors to shadow or research projects for the future would be nice.

The best is to talk to upperclassmen at your school. The opportunities vary between schools considerably and one department may be fantastic at our school and terrible for students at yours. You should also target specialties that you have some sort of interest in to help a) develop future contacts and more important b) figure out if it is a good fit for you.

Also as an aside, it is difficult at this point to fix these kinds of things, but you really should work on your capitalization, it leaves a lot to be desired.

What do you mean when you reference his capitalization?
