how to increase productivity while in calss

I am a p-1 student; therefore, I am still trying to adjust and make my time in class more productive.
do you guys have any ideas on how to do it?
What I do:
In class I try to write down everything the lecturer says (yes, I am one of those dumb people who don't remember things unless they have written them down). Then I go home and read my notes and try to make schemes and tables and memorize them.
In order for me to remember the material I need to read it at least 2-3 times.
Sometimes, I don't even finish that.
So, I am thinking, how to improve my productivity during class?
One of the graduates I spoke to said that she learned to take notes and make charts and schemes during class on the computer. She said she had a window open with the instructor's powerpoints and then another window were her notes in Word.
How is it possible to listen, copy from power point, then click on the Word document and paste there. Does not it take like 10 times more time?
Or am I missing any tricks?

How do you guys do it or how did you do it?
May be I am just an extraudinary slow....🙁
any advice would be appreciated

p.s. I tried to highlight stuff with a highlighter on a hard copy of a power point lecture, but even that takes time to find the words that the instructor is saying...

dont go to class....if you will have alot more time for studying.

Buy a voice recorder. Before class begins, put it next to the professor. Then write down notes. When you go back to your place, listen to the recording, and fill in the gaps. This way you get to relisten to the lecture, and note down down that you totally missed during the lecture. Over time you'll naturally get more efficient at things.

You don't need to listen to everything the professor is saying. Read the chapter in the textbook the day before lecture.

i used a buttload of colored gel pens. everything was color coded and if possible it went flowchart style. i know i didnt write everything down, but if i went back to it i would know what it was getting at and didnt have to spend the next 10 minutes deciphering my notes. plus the gel pens made em pretty haha

I'm also trying to improve my study habits and paying attention in class. My professors usually give out powerpoints so its easier to annotate with your own notes.

I wish I could skip class, but most of my professors give out surprise quizzes or include stuff in lectures that aren't in the powerpoints. 🙁

Speaking of studying on their own...does anyone read the textbook and NOT understand what they read? I can reread a chapter 3 times and still not fully understand it. Maybe I have ADHD lol...

I found taking notes during class was extremely disruptive my concentration. Get a laptop with a webcam and microphone and set it up so the lecturer, what they're saying, and slides are captured on video. Then, sit back, relax, and concentrate on the main points of the lecture. You should be able to recall the main points after the lecture. Fill in the details afterwards.

OneNote if you have Micro$oft Office. Or just typing in any program, since it's faster than handwriting.

Don't write down EVERYTHING the instructor says verbatim, I hope you're not doing that....

And do you not get notes in advance? Any kind of outline? At the very least, you could look at the powerpoint or the book beforehand and take notes from that, leaving room to add things, and add whatever's mentioned in class.
