Hi,

I need your help. A friend of mine will graduate from college in 2004, but enter dental school in 2005.

Her question is, what can she do for one year? She is not legally allowed to work in the US. Are there any 1-year masters programs, etc? Certificate programs? Anything else she could do that would help her in dental school?
Can she take dental classes as a non-degree student?

thanks

Dont they offer some dental assistant classes in some community colleges?

Thanks for the reply, boyan. Hey, I'm from Chicago too...going to UIUC. Do you think taking hygiene classes at COD will be helpful? And in what ways helpful?

thanks

ULTRON.

ULTron:

I tried taking some clinical revelant spanish courses at COD the summer b/w my 1st and 2nd year. They told me that they had a specific dental related spanish course available in the fall. If your friend will be going to school in a city (UIC, NYU) then this course might make her life easier.

Otherwise, a couple years back I was lookin into getting some early hands on course on dentistry. Triton College has a program for dental lab technicians. You can tell her to enroll and just quit after 1 year.

Thanks for the reply Pi__Guy1.

A certificate in DLT sounds really interesting. But can you tell me more about dental related spanish courses? I also plan to begin dental school in 2005 - I've never had spanish in my life!

It's a spanish course specifically for spanish used in a dental clinic setting. so you won't get the boring stuff like "I like them apples"
