Hi, I need some help. I am not sure how to move forward for this year. I applied last cycle. I did not get in. I applied late for 2 Post-Bacc programs. I didn't get into one and was waitlisted on the other. I am not sure how to move forward. I need some advise.... I don't want to waste year, even if I didn't get into a Post-bacc. I want to make this time count. I need to improve my DAT score and science grades. I would appreciate any constructive perspective.

Frustrated!

Do your own informal post bac. Apply to go back to your undergrad school seeking a 2nd bachelor's degree and just sign up for a bunch of upper level sciences. You don't have to be a part of any program.

Also volunteer/research in the fall. Then take your DAT over the winter and destroy it. Collect letters in the spring and apply as early as you can next cycle. 👍

DIY Post-Bacc. Find a 4 year college, settle down and be non-degree seeking student taking upper level sciences. Study for your DAT when you have time.

Thanks everybody, 😳 Slowly regaining hope...

Can someone advise on the upper level courses that will best help my application?? Histology, Human Anatomy, Neuranatomy... etc Are not available at my University. Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Medical Ethics are available. Can anyone suggest others??

Thanks🙂

Any class in Bio deparment that is known to be an easy upper div class. Sure , it might not prepare you for dental school, but would that give you higher chance of getting 4.0? Yes.

Out of the ones that are available... all will be helpful. I would recommend taking at least 3 classes a semester even though you are doing this informally...

Take whatever upper level biology courses you can. As long as you have met your pre-reqs, the schools are looking to see how you have challenged yourself and whether you can handle d-school. They realize some schools offer certain courses and others don't.

If I were to say which onces would benefit you more, then take Biochecm, Micro, Pharm, Phys and Immunology. Ethics - don't waste your time if it would interfere with other courses. You'll get exposed to dental ethics in d-school.

I finally got in on my third attempt. I retook science classes I had done poor in but focused on the ones which would be beneficial to my DAT. I did DAT destroyer and listened to Audiolearn Science mp3s on my commute. It did the trick for me. Good luck!
