So, this semester was my best semester by far and I am really happy about it. However, I noticed that during the day I would always worry about tests once I turned them in. I know that we all do this, but it seemed to really interfere with my focus. I would worry about the tests to the point that my mind makes me think that I made mistakes on the test that I found out later I didn't do. This way of thinking would pretty much happen, even if I knew that I did well on the test. This worry would also interfere with my focus, when I studied for other tests and my overall well being throughout the day and week. I guess that I have a lot of anxiety... so I was wondering how you guys deal with your own anxiety/worry about tests? Any advice will be greatly appreciated... 🙂

Man before I even read the thread title, your username reminded me of this book... The Inner Game of Tennis:

http://www.amazon.com/Inner-Game-Te...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274155086&sr=8-1

This book is crazy good at getting yourself in the right mental frame for anything stressful from tests to, well... tennis. 😛

I also like to visualize every aspect of the test possible before it happens, and plan what i'm doing right up to the minute before (i.e. Listen to ipod 5 minutes before, do pushups 10 minutes before, whatever). Yes i'm anal, but hey thats me

I don't worry about tests after I take them.

Sometimes I am sweating the last couple days before a test (especially if I have a bunch of other stuff going on), but after a test, I wipe my mind clear of it and move on. It really doesn't bother me if the professor takes a couple weeks to grade them or posts the grades online that afternoon. You can't go back and take it again. If you are worried about how you did, start studying for the next test. Put some of that anxiety to a useful purpose.

I get butterflies once in a while too. If I have a test in like half an hour and I'm really worried about it I throw in my headphones and blast something that gets me pumped up. Like workout music. I get the same feeling towards exams that I did before football games in high school, so it's like I pump myself up for the test rather than get worried. When worried I always think twice about my answers and change them and it turns out my original was correct. When I am confident and pumped up I just answer the way I normally would.

Thanks for the book recommendation! Yea, I try my best to calm down right before tests. I try to get a good night's sleep, work out to relieve stress, and I even play tennis to as well 😀. So, I'm going to get this book because it seems like it will help improve my mental frame for conquering test anxiety/worry as well as tennis. I really do worry too much about tests after turning them in... and I do focus on something else such as studying for other tests, other matters, and etc. Waiting on the grade really does bother me, and I really want to see my test as soon as possible. So, I guess redirecting my focus to other more important matters is the best way of overcoming this state of mind? I know that there is really no point in worrying over a test that has already been turned in... but I guess it is hard for me not to...🙁. I'll try my best though...🙂.
