I wanted to know how single people (who don't have parents or a spouse supporting them) are able to support themselves thru medical school in terms of living expenses. I plan on taking loans for medical school, but can they include living expenses as well? I hear it's pretty much impossible to work thru medical school so what do people usually do to pay for housing/food/etc? Thanks for the help!

All medical schools have a cost of attendance that includes housing, food, transportation, etc. over and above tuition/fee's. Some schools more than others. You can take loans at for this money just like undergrad. You can find schools cost of attendance by browsing the website of the individual schools under the financial aid section. I would say most schools allow 18-23k year to be taken out for living expenses (depending on the specific school).

Yes, the school factors in living expenses to determine the maximum amount of loans you can take out. I live alone in a house that I own and I was worried about not being able to borrow enough. I took out the max in student loans at my school and it leaves me with $1800 a month to live on. Considering that you don't have time to do much or go anywhere, that's plenty.
