you could work for a year or two before going to med school... that way you can save a bit of money

yea...or just work now. i think at some schools you can get money for performing research...that and TAing undergrad/med school classes, or try to tutor...or win the lotto. 🙂 oh, or try to apply for scholarships.

I've been working in "the real world" for almost four years and haven't managed to save much. Granted, my "real world" experience has been in federal government scientific research and social work...not exactly moneypits.

once you are admitted, get on your hands & knees and crawl to your financial aid office. proceed to cry and wail until their feelings of guilt prompt them to disgorge some discretionary funds into your bank account. it may not be much but anything helps.
