Just thought I start a posting with advice on preparing for interviews. I'd love to hear recent interview experiences as well.

Go to interviewfeedback.com and read everyone's posts for that school. They list everyone's most interesting/difficult questions, which I have found very helpful.

My advice: Don't research the kind of questions that you need to ask or the questions that will be asked of you. If you don't have a feel for what the school is about and/or the community, go to their site. Don't overtly "prepare".

If you can, fly into the city a day early. Stay with a student and/or go to a bar and mingle with the locals. Ask them questions about their day, about their families.

Remember, med schools don't want machines. They want people; people that can understand the communities they live in.

What if you find nothing you like? (You are bound to find something wonderful if you give the school/city a chance.) But, in the former case, I would suggest be yourself. Don't exagerrate your experience in the city, but give it to them frankly. You do NOT want to go to a school that you are not interested in.

Go to <a href="http://www.studentdoctor.net/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=006486" target="_blank">this thread </a> for my advice.

Also, here's <a href="http://www.studentdoctor.net/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008174" target="_blank">another more recent thread</a> with interview advice.

Good luck!! Interviews # 5 & 6 coming up in the next 2 days, and I still stand by my advice in that first thread. :)

Oh, and for comic relief when you're sick of prepping, check out SwampMan's <a href="http://www.studentdoctor.net/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008053" target="_blank">funny things interviewees do</a> thread. Guaranteed to relax you and make you LOL!!! :D <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> :D <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Just relax and be yourself. Sincerity is something you can't rehearse. Just know what you like about the school and why you want to go there, and just be honest. My best interviews were ones where I simply spoke from my heart. Cheesy but true. :)
