So, I got in to pharmacy school and a big sigh of relief after all that hard work.. Now what ?

I graduated at the end of last year in December and have been travelling/bumming/gaming for the past 3 months, and there's still more time until pharmacy school starts in August....

What can/should I be doing in the meantime ? Is there a list of things that I should be ticking off one by one to make sure I'm ready once school starts ?

Any advice/suggestions anybody ?

🙂

Congratulations! It's such a wonderful feeling, isn't it? Schools should be sending you paperwork to fill out, much like admissions into an undergraduate program. I'd start working on them as soon as you get it: deposits, final transcripts, physical exams (which may take a long time to get done), finding housing options if you need it, etc.

There is plenty to do before August, but if you are done with all you need to do, I'd say enjoy the time before you start the studying, cramming, caffeine binge all over again.

Do the required paper work, then relax a bit.

P1 is mostly about laying the medicinal science foundation. If you have an undergrad degree in natural sciences and got mostly A's, then you are off to a much easier P1 year than others.

If you are rusty or never took physiology, anatomy, biochem, you might want to read up on the fundamentals to buffer against the initial shock and awe.

A class that really helped me a lot was medical terminology. So studying that on your own or take that as an elective as early as possible will save you a lot of blank stares.

So relax and enjoy while you can. Depending on your undergrad foundations and your school, you might have an easy or tough P1 year. With a molecular bio degree, P1 was easy for me. But when P2 comes around, degree or no degree, you'll get hammered. :meanie:

I say continue what you have been doing. If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten in as much gaming as I could before pharmacy school started.
