Hello! I'm trying to figure out how to categorize and quantify this particular research experience -
- Paid employment by large university medical center with psychiatrist PI
- Primarily responsible for participant recruitment, data collection (interviews, mri, cognitive testing, etc).
- Collected urine, blood, and saliva samples
- Conducted extensive life, medical, trauma, psychopathology history interview (~5 hours per interview)
- Performed fMRI on subjects in hospital
- Conducted cognitive tests on child subjects
Why I'm confused -
- Not all of the participants had illnesses/disorders, but most did
- Program did involve diagnosis, but it wasn't done by me - just psychiatrist obviously. I would tell him the results of my clinical interviews and he would come and handle the diagnosis situation appropriately
- Project didn't really do much treatment except for substance abuse intervention, otherwise referrals to appropriate physician after diagnosis
Is this paid clinical/medical or paid non-clinical/medical or research? Do I have flexibility in choosing based on where my app is weakest?
Can I split hours spent between clinical and non-clinical/research - biological samples/fmri/clinical interviewing as clinical and cognitive testing/data entry/project administration as research?
Don't want to raise any red flags by categorizing incorrectly.
Thanks!
