I got a congratulatory email from my SLU interviewer 2 days ago. In the email, he told me that he recently found out about my acceptance and he wanted to personally congratulate me. Nothing else.

I want to reply to his email but I have no idea what to write. Has anyone reply to a congrat email from interviewers? If so, what did you say?

This is obviously a recruiting letter! They like you, they hope you like them enough to go there. 🙂
You need not respond but it never hurts to say "thank you" and perhaps mention something about the school or something said to you at the interview that impressed you.

I would just write back and say thanks, that you enjoyed having the school get to know you in the interview, that you enjoyed getting to know the school a bit, etc, etc, and thank you very much for your consideration re: writing a personalized congratulations.

BTW, when did you interview at SLU and when did you hear about the acceptance? I forgot whether they call/e-mail/snailmail you and what the timeframe was... Shameful, I know. 😉

I interviewed at SLU and my interviewer did the same thing. Don't stress about it If you want to go there, thank him and let him know you look forward to the coming years there. and if you dont just thank him and say how much you enjoyed your interviewed, and thank him for his time.

Simply say:

Thank you so much. I can't wait to start in the fall.

PS - stop emailing me cause its freaking me out.

Seriously though, he kept it short and sweet so just follw his lead. Quick and to the point. It's best just to shoot a response as soon as you get it instead of sitting on it for two days. They are not going to change thier mind if your email response isn't perfect.

Dear Dr. So-and-so,

Thanks so much for taking the time to write me in person. I am so excited to have been accepted! SLU is a wonderful place. [I hope to see you there in the fall.] or [I am still waiting to hear about financial aid packages before making my final decision, but I hope to see you there in the fall.]

Thanks again.

Sincerely,
<name>

I mean...are u people afraid of hurting the interviewers' feelings? I would just thank him for his time during the interview and for writing the email. And say that you are happy to be accepted to such a wonderful institution.
Even if you say "see u in the fall" and decide to go somewhere else....is it that bad?
I dunno...I think there's just extra pressure added to this situation...

I wouldn't worry about it sdnstud. I think it's more of a friendly email to say hey he remembers you and wants you to know he's happy you got in.

Just shoot him back a short email thanking him and that should be enough.

Or ask him why SLU's tuition is so damn high for next year. Heavens! Man the financial aid application (FAFSA, need based, and then finally the school's) is going to kill me. It's ridiculous.
