i have pretty good EC but as I complete my amcas application, i feel that I am not selling myself effectively. i don't know if it is the way I decribe my activities or something else....but when I look over my EC section of my amcas...Im not all that satisfied...what can I do? should I make bolder claims in my descriptions?

Try using "action" words to describe your activities, and definitely say why the activity makes you a better person.

...and try not to get caught up with the other SDNers who feed/clothe/nurse/raise HIV-positive children in Uganda over the summer...

be honest about them and write down what you gained out of your experiences there. adcoms can tell when you are trying to make more out of something than what there really is.

"Sell" yourself? Well, you could start off by not talking like a ***** about yourself. "What should I do to make myself appear better than I really am?" Well, try to exaggerate the facts a little and hope the adcoms don't recognize your phoniness.

I agree - follow up the dry summary of your activity with a brief, positive statement about that experience, something that lets your voice show and will be more interesting than just a resume. Rewrite it this way and see if you like it better.
