I'm asking this Q for two friends of mine (couple), that would like to pursue their medical training and live in Australia. They are both EU cit/EU medschool with internship completed in the EU, do not have Australian citizenship or permanent residency or w/e. How could they start - as far as I understand, they need to pass the MCQ exam (can it be taken only in Australian or also anywhere else?). After the exam, what's next? Applying as a house officer - similar as in the UK and EU? Straight to internship - I know they would have to do 2 years of Internship in Australia regardless of their previous training? Where is it possible to get more info regarding available spots for house officers (if this even exists in Australia) or internship? Also, how is the immigration to Australia - if you work in a medically underserved area, is it possible to be given a permanent residency? Last, how difficult would it be to get into let's say Gen Surgery or Ob/Gyn after internship? Any info appreciated. Thnx
