What would you say a good regiment is for studying for the DAT???

I was thinking maybe hitting the Kaplan book first, then DAT Destroyer and TopScore, and then I will be taking the Kaplan course. What do you guys think/recommend?

Dont take Kaplan during the regular semester. Take it during the summer.
Keep up with the Kaplan.
Study the sections you do bad in more than the others.
Buy ExamCrackers for Gen Chem if you arent that great at Gen Chem.
Don't delay taking your DAT. Take it at the latest in July.

1. Obtain review materials
2. Study review materials
3. ???
4. PROFIT

I took the Kaplan class which was 4-5 weeks long. I kept up with the HW and practice tests which took on average around 3 hours a day. Some say you should study for 3 months but I found that I cramed it all in 4 weeks then I would remember it more so then over a long period of time. I did well enough on the DAT and looking back I am glad I took the Kaplan course. Also, I took it in August and wish I would have taken it earlier.

I memorized the flash cards, evry single one.

I made more for the ochem section in the kaplan book and memorized those reactions.

I memorized bio, crashed through chem, PAT came nice, reading I never touched, just some practice test stuff, math...15 🙂

I did the 4 week Kaplan course, did the homework, online stuff, everything I could. Immersed in it for 2 months and took it.

I would also take at least one full length, real deal tests every two weeks, no interuptions at all, like it was test day.

Nail it man, nail it!

Good luck to you.

I start the Kaplan Class at the end of February, and plan to do a practice exam every weekend, using top score and DAT achiever. I will go through the DAT destroyer for a week after the kaplan class ends, then take the test.

Did you use any other resources at all besides the Kaplan class? Was it the online class or the regular classroom class?

I have heard a lot of people say that the online class is much more worthwhile, just wondering if this is the general consensus.

WoooHOOO on the 15 in math ME TOO 😀

IT killed me LOL

Um Here is my adivce for study pretty much what others have said, do kaplan in june as soon as school is out its a great course, with that said its only a great course if you put the time in... I prettty much dident do anything but study every day all day long and go to kaplan on the days I was supposed too.. I took about 8 full length practice tests and treated every one like the real thing to get used to enduring the actual 5 hours of testing so id know what it would feel like in the test center... ( One thing I dident plan on was not having an LCD screen for a monitor it was horrible)

Any way You should Know that Huge Kaplan Book and the smaller one pretty much backward and forward if you cant open the book point to a page randomly and know pretty much all the concepts on it then ya might not be ready to take the real deal yet...

Good luck

Does the classroom Kaplan, offer the same online component?

Oh ya the Kaplan classroom is pretty much everything that online gives ya plus class room lecture which I found really helpful.....

They have private tutor time too if ya need it....

Um the classroom though could be bad its hard to say its usually a student teaching that did really well on the DAT, thats what we had then the guy flaked and this amazing lady that does MCAT did it for us and she was incredible.....

I found the class to be worthwhile. I liked it that there was someone that had already taken the DAT and could personally give his own advice/tips on each section. However, the most beneficial part of Kaplan is all the practice tests and quizes that they give you which I am sure you get the same amount in both the online class and regular classroom class. Also, I used Kaplan for the majority of my study materials but also used "Top Score Pro for the DAT" which gave me some additional practice tests. Hope that helps.

This is awesome feedback. However, I do find it kind of odd that everyone mentions that the Kaplan course is a waste of time! I mean.... COME ON!!!! This is a 1200.00 course for christ sakes!!!

Think of it as only 1200, thats less than one class costs in undergrad unless your a state school person....

Cheap price to pay in my opinion if it aids you getting into dent school...

You got a point there.
