It's been 3 years since I took G.chem classes during my freshman year in college. Now, I'm studying through G chem section in Kaplan review book, and this is just so confusing. I got an A/A- on these courses. Is this normal?? Will it be get better if I review on 2nd time??

my gf is in the same boat you are, if not worse! anyway, what is working for her is just simply reading through the material first and then do as many practice problems as possible!!! this is working for her, so it couldn't hurt to give it a shot.

Kaplan is only good for review, in my opinion. If i was three years away from chemistry, i would defintely vet the dat gchem outline with a good text (i prefer mcmurray or kotz) and start from the top. the important thing to do is to keep reviewing the concepts you learn as you progress - ie dont just plow through chemical kinetics and not go back to it until test time...good luck

I hadn't taken GChem in 7 yrs (can anyone top that?) and I did fine with a review book. I agree that doing a lot of probs is the key, eventually it clicks.

Review formulas and know how to us them in all situations. Know the key concepts and you should be fine.
