Kind of. It makes more sense if you classify them by their general effect. I like Lange's flash cards. BRS is good, too, but it is a little disorganized, IMO. Hopefully your course director was nice enough to split up lectures into different categories of drugs (muscarinic agonists, muscarinic antagonist, adrenergic agonists and antagonists, nicotinic agents, etc.). Understanding the physiology underlying the action of the drugs can be helpful. So, I don't see it as pure memorization, although their is a fair amount you just have to know.

does anyone know any good pharm memoronic?

Yeah. It's memorization. I made flashcards of the prototypical drug of each drug class, with notes on specific drugs and the major points that make them different from prototypical (namely, adverse effect profiles).

The upside is that once you actually make flashcards, most of the info will already be stuck in your head, and review will be rapid.

Also, If you make flashcards, don't throw them away! I'm still regretting that decision.

FA pharm is all you need.

Kaplan pharm should be watched before your dedicated studying period.

For me it was a realization that if I can recognize the drug class for each of the 5 listed drugs (rather than being able to list drugs of a drug class) I can usually get the question right. Obviously this won't help much in 3rd year. I like Picmonic too, but it doesn't include all of them and sometimes it's a huge stretch so I don't remember it. A kid in my class makes his own "picmonics", but I'm not creative enough for that.

does Raymon have general principles videos or is that just Steven Harris?

I found Pharm to be less important, and the main drugs were the ones that mattered. The rare drugs no one cared about at that stage (first two years).

You will see/use these drugs over and over during your clinical life. Most of the drugs you will learn in medical school (like most topics) you will never need or use again.

FA and lange cards are more than you'll ever need
