After withdrawing from Biochemistry in the summer because I was going to get no higher than a B-, I decided to take it again this fall. I really made an effort to attend class (which I didn't in the summer), do periodic reviews, rewrite notes after each class, and start studying at least 10 days before. I study at least 2-3 hours a day for the class alone. However, despite my efforts and putting more effort into the class than I did in the summer, I actually did 10% worse on my first exam. I have just tried absolutely everything. I even print out all materials and don't bring any electronics to study with me.
I honestly don't know what I should do anymore. I used to be able to do pretty well on exams. It just seems the harder I work, the worse I do. I completely slacked off in the class during the summer and would always skip class, but I still did better than when I actually tried to put in the effort. I was thinking maybe it could be a psychiatric issue, but my parents wouldn't let me take medications.
