How To Submit Reference Letters

Hey guys,

Once I have people ready to write me reference letters, how do I submit them? Do I give the letter writers pre-paid envelopes addressed to each school I choose to apply to or do I upload an electronic copy of the letters to the AMCAS?

When you submit a letter writer's information to AMCAS, a letter request form is sent. You do not handle the letter directly -- look on the AMCAS website for more information.

In other words, letters cannot be submitted until you have access to the AMCAS application.

Just FYI, the following information is included to the writer regarding letter submission:

With this form, I am requesting that you forward my letter of evaluation to the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS),
which collects all letters on behalf of medical schools participating in the AMCAS Letters Service. Below is more information from AMCAS
on how to submit the letter.
About AMCAS Letters
The AMCAS Letters Service is a centralized service that allows medical schools to receive all letters of evaluation electronically from
AMCAS. This service also allows letter authors to send letters to AMCAS, rather than to individual medical schools (as long as those
schools participate in AMCAS Letters).
The AAMC has established a centralized set of guidelines for letter writers. Please be sure to review these guidelines when crafting
letters of evaluation.

AMCAS can collect letters sent using Interfolio if the student requesting this letter is an Interfolio user or your institution/organization

I would suggest opening an account on Interfolio. It makes managing and sending letters a lot easier.

How would you go about getting your reference letters on interfolio?

Would you give your referees your interfolio login information or something like that?
