How to thank your recommenders

Hi all you pre-MS1's,

I was thinking of sending two gift certificates to the movies as a "thank you" gift for each of my recommenders. I think it would be nicer than just getting a card ... what do you guys think? Is it too cheesy?

That sounds really nice!!!! I just sent my recommenders a thank you card and wrote some nice thoughts inside them. Your way is a lot more fun!!!! Good luck with the med school admissions process!!! 🙄 🙄 🙄

So when do you guys actually send the 'thank you' cards? Once you're accepted? Or, as soon as they've turned them in? Just curious - cause I was just going to stop by and thank them...

I send thank-you cards once I know they've been sent.

A nice card with a little note on how they have impacted your life in a positive way usually does the trick. At least that is what I would want some one to say to me. 🙂

No, you perform those right before asking for the LOR, and then once weekly until they are sent.

I used thank you cards to prod writers into actually turning letters in on time. It serves the dual purpose of thanking them and tactfully ensuring sure the letters aren't delayed.
