Hey guys I just had a quick question. How do you guys keep track/ organize your volunteer and shadow hours? Is there a best way?
I have heard a lot of people say a spreadsheet but I also heard you should write a little about your experience so in the regard I think maybe a word document would be better.
Thanks!

I keep a spreadsheet for each. You can make a larger column to the right of your hours to put a few notes into to help you remember the hightlights. I think a word document would get messy very quickly to track hours, but you could always use one as a journal or something if you wanted to record more lengthy accounts of your experiences.

Keeping track is a good idea. I kept a running google doc of EVERYTHING I did (blood donation, leadership role, projects, activities, awards, shadowing, etc) You would be surprised how fast hours add up and it's helpful to have the names, phone numbers, emails, months, # of hours, etc for when you apply.

What kind of contact info is needed on the application ?

most of the places I volunteered had systems in place due to the numbers of volunteers..so we had sign in sheets that were initialled by the supervisor and the places would give us letters; if your center doesn't do that, I recommend just making an actual paper sheet and telling them you'd like to track hours for future applications to professional school and if someone doesn't mind initialling that you were there.
