Hey,

Currently, I am struggling much more than I anticipated and am looking for some advice hence the title of the post.

Current schedule:
Calc I
Organic chemistry I
Genetics
An upper level nutrition course

Other:
I work a patient care job ~15 hours/wk
TA anat and phys I and II lab ~3-5 hours/wk

As of right now, I have a BC (likely a C after my exam gets graded) in orgo and just got a C on my last calc exam dropping me down to a B in the class. I have done well in all my past courses and am a junior. I have been studying harder than I ever have and seem like I can’t do as well as I have in the past. I have never gotten a C on an exam and have already gotten 2 not even half way in the semester. It really has started affecting my confidence when I take exams. What are some ways you guys have turned it around in the back half the semester and ways to get confidence back? Thanks!

Go to office hours, review sessions. It seems like you were doing fine before these recent few exams. Go back and review the material. Go see if you can talk to the professor and REVIEW your exam. At least you were doing well before. Calc and Orgo are two very cumulative courses; everything builds on the past material. So please go and make sure that you understand the material that is the on the exam that you did not do well in.

Take a few deep breaths. You have done well before; no reason you shouldn't be able to do well now. Are you practicing enough? Maybe you could take a break from the job or TAing ? Are you making efficient use of your study time?

What chemdoctor said, plus make sure to speak with your professors and voice your concerns about your grades. Let them know you are disappointed that your grades are not reflecting your efforts, and surprisingly they might be receptive into giving you an A if you show a great upward trend for the next half of the semester. Do whatever you can to get all A's on your next exams.
