How to volunteer?

hi,
i appeared for the NBDE part 1 in july, for the 2nd time.waiting for the result.
wanted to know the procedure for application. is it necessary to have a volunteer certificate from USA or experience certificate from India would be enough?

if it is recqurired, what kind of volunteer work would do the magic?

i dont know what kind of volunteering would do the magic but if you want to volunteer in a dental setting u could go directly to any dental clinic & ask the incharge dentist about it.

Though working in a dental setting and things like that do help a lot,as far as I know getting into some research with associated fileds are the best.This I let you know from others who have done so with extremely good results.The major advavntage is that you can ask for recomendations,and those from researchers would display some kind of scholastic comments.The downside is you may not get paid for what you do,whereas if you do an asst job in an office facility ,you mihgt get paid.I personally did some externship in a health care facility and I hope it pays off.Usually they dont let foriegn grads do externships or let me rephrase that to seldom they do that.I knew somebody and that helped me get in and I am an American too.I gotta admit I was a part of bias ,but to my advantage(hopefully).They worked my ass off for no pay ,but that was cool as my goal was to impress them too.

volunteer service definatley counts
work experience form india counts too

talk to some of the dentists near by and tell them that u r an foreign trained dentist and u have applied to some of the schools , meanwhile u would like to volunteer or observatory work .
OR
visit your local AMERICAN RED CROSS SOCIETY WEB SITE. u will find many voluteer oppurtunities inhealth care field.

it just to show them you were not wasting your time /u r in touch with the field /u were involved in some human services.
