Had only a little involvement in musical theater in college (the odd talent show or theater class) but was heavily involved K-12. One specific experience involves me being in a theater troupe for 5yr in which we put on 6 recitals a year lasting 1mo each, and we'd have to learn almost all our numbers in a week. As dance captain, I would have to learn 17 out of the 32 numbers in each show. In addition, I'd have to learn numbers the day of a performance in case someone was sick. I 100% believe this helped me learn how to memorize info fast for my neuro/physio/ memorization heavy classes.

Since this mainly concerns how I was when I was younger, is it worth describing in the EC section of my app? Or do I get my theater professor to describe this in her rec letter?

Medical ad coms will not care about your high school musical theater experiences. I would not mention them in the EC section of your app. Setting aside any questions I may have regarding how much weight a rec from your theater professor will carry, I would have him focus on the positive traits of yours that he observed and why those traits would be beneficial to a medical student/doctor.

Some might tie this into their personal statement. Others might list something more current under artistic pursuits or hobbies, and then also mention this precollege experience. I'm a proponent of the latter approach.

I did the latter approach for my experiences singing in choirs. Listed my current community choir, my college choir, and my middle/high school choir experiences. I think this is also a nice way to show that in some shape or form you have continued to engage in an artistic pursuit that means something to you.
