How to write this leadership experience?

Hi,
So my school has a seven week course thing where you learn to enhance your leadership abilties and get a certificate at the end certifying that you were there.
Can this be listed under leadership experience? Its a 3 part course

Presumably, the class is already on your transcript, but if you have a lot to say about it, I suggest you list it under "Other." Or, alternatively, you could discuss the course in the same space with a Leadership activity in which you utilized the techniques you learned.

How is this leadership, OP? I really don't get it....

Leadership:
1. the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group: He managed to maintain his leadership of the party despite heavy opposition. Synonyms: administration, management, directorship, control, governorship, stewardship, hegemony.
2. ability to lead: As early as sixth grade she displayed remarkable leadership potential. Synonyms: authoritativeness, influence, command, effectiveness; sway, clout.
3. an act or instance of leading; guidance; direction: They prospered under his strong leadership.
4. the leaders of a group: The union leadership agreed to arbitrate.


Leader:
1.a person or thing that leads.
2.a guiding or directing head, as of an army, movement, or political group.
3.Music .
a. a conductor or director, as of an orchestra, band, or chorus.
b.the player at the head of the first violins in an orchestra, the principal cornetist in a band, or the principal soprano in a chorus, to whom any incidental solos are usually assigned.

...How does being a student in a class count as leadership? Now, if you were leading something while in that class and applied principles from the class, you might briefly mention the course; however, even then, I probably would leave it out. Frankly, it's what you did that mattered, not what you were supposed to have learned and applied in some class.

To help clarify, leadership might actually look like:

• Leading a club (e.g., President, VP, Chair, etc.)
• Student Government
• Lead Research Assistant (or lead on a project)
• Manager (or other supervisor at work)
• Lead Volunteer or Volunteer Coordinator (e.g., at the hospital or a free/volunteer-run clinic)
• Director of play
• Leader of a band
• Captain of a sports team

Leaders lead people (by definition).

Exactly my thoughts as the person above. Getting a piece of paper saying you took a leadership course is not leadership. Personally, I'd avoid mentioning it, or I'd use it in the context of the skills I learned and applied when I had a real leadership position.
