DAT THIS Friday!!

Total Study Time: 3 weeks

BC scores are:
18/19 for chems and QR
Reading avg is 19-20
PAT is 17-18 just bc I keep scoring 2/15 or 3/15 on angles 🙂
and Bio is consistent 17 but I've barely touched it so far and plan on mass cramming next two days based on DAT BC notes

Chance my DAT scores. Will I fly or will I crash and burn?
All feedback is appreciated, no need to hold back!

You seem to be performing right about average. However, depending on your GPA and extracurriculars, you'll want a 20+ to drastically improve your chances of "beating" other applicants from a numbers perspective. Typically students have scored better on the actual DAT than on Bootcamp.

Right now, you might be able to swing a 20 on test day if you get lucky. However, I don't like to bet and hope for the best. I'd recommend pushing the test back and spending 1 week reviewing all the test questions you've seen so far and learning why each choice is or is not the correct answer. Then spend the final week doing a full-length test each day and again reviewing all the test questions you got right/wrong. It's important to review ALL questions (not just those you got right) because if Bootcamp asks a question about the cell cycle and it happens to be an answer you know, there could be 4 other possible questions that correspond with the other 4 multiple choice answers that you could otherwise get wrong without review.

Through the years of working with thousands of students, I have come to the conclusion test scores only give you a rough idea of what you will score on the DAT, you can score higher but unfortunately, it is possible to score lower.

You need a very solid foundation to score high on the DAT.

What is your science GPA, where do you attend school? Are you a traditional student? Is this your first time taking the DAT? What other materials have you used to prepare?

With answers to those questions, I can make a better guesstimate of your DAT scores!

Wishing you the best, Happy New Year~

I feel like based on all the breakdowns I've read in the two years I've been here, you'd maybe get 20s across the board with like an 18 in PAT and Bio. I don't think it'd be smart or beneficial to cram bio in the next few days because there's just so much information and so many details about soooo many different topics that it's easy to mix things up. I think pushing it back at least a week so you can focus on Bio would help tremendously, and would be worth the extra money. You don't want to have to ride this monster for a second time- tame it on your first try and save that time & money!

Extra Info:

First time taking DAT

College: THE Ohio State University

cGPA: 3.81 sGPA: 3.65

Science class grades:

Intro Chem (like baby Chem 1 for nurses and other lower level health professions. I started off wanting to be a nurse!): A
Chem 1: A
Bio 2: B
Stats: A
Algebra: A

Chem 2 Freshman summer: C (63% + Curve)
Physiology Freshman Summer: W
*Got too cocky, didn’t know Summer classes were so fast and brutal, low key went through depression after that C... almost quit*

OChem 1, OChem 1 Lab, OChem 2, OChem 2 Lab: ALL A’s BOYS! Come back, don’t call it a comeback!!
Physiology: A
Trigonometry: A-
Anatomy: A

Physics 1:A
Bio 1: A

All non-science classes: Straight A’s and 1 A-

I’ve grouped the classes above based on the year I took them^^ first cluster = first year of college and so on.

Age: Just turned 21 last month!

Resources used in order of most to least:
Chads Chem, Chads OChem, DAT Bootcamp, Math Destroyer, DAT Destroyer, Cliffs AP vol 5.

TBH I’ve been searching through all these SDN posts cause I’m stressed and someone on here posted about how OSU just uses an excel sheet calculator to rank you and don’t care about personal stuff until interviews. On there, she said she had a 3.75 GPA and the excel sheet told her she needed a 19-20 to get invited to an interview but her husband who had a 3.2 would need ATLEAST a 25+ to beat OSU’s little algorithm and get enough total points to be invited to an interview.

If I can just get 19’s across the board, I’d be on cloud 9 haha

My biggest fear is doing 1 point less on everything compared to Bootcamp instead of the avg I see which is 1-3 points higher... I just have that kind of luck when it comes to life

But tbh thank you for the responses! I will heavily consider pushing back 1 week but that’s about all I’ll be able to push back.. either that or take it in the summer. I’m taking 21 credits next semester and I need to volunteer and shadow more on top of that (had over 500 hours with my ortho But relationship went sour and now I’m not even gonna write down his info or my hours with him ).

Pray for me guys, I just want 19’s everyone else on SDN can keep the 22+’s

Schools I really want to go to: OSU, Case Western, VCU

Thanks for the details, IMO, it might be best to postpone your DAT and go in with complete confidence. You are taking a risk trying to cram so much information in a few days.

For angles, it helped me when I started looking at them like slices of pizza! No joke; so I hope it helps you!

Cool Idea!! I've been trying to picture them as laptops recently and it's helped me improve but I'll try this method out as well! Thank You!!
