So I'm a senior with a 3.4 cGPA (finance major) who goofed around freshman year and made poor grades which is bringing my overall gpa down.

As college progressed, I became more and more serious about my grades. Spent the last 3 semesters doing pre-med requirements and have made all A's. (only classes I have left are the 2 O chems and an O chem lab)

If I were to maintain the 4.0 sGPA and assuming an average MCAT, how would that be viewed by adcoms?

Basically what I'm asking is, is a 4.0 sGPA worth enough to overcome a 3.4 cGPA?

You should probably do a post-bacc to raise your cGPA, if you want to go to a credible MD.

the first response answers the question perfectly. We can't quantify how valuable it is. It is great to have a 4.0 sGPA, but like he/she said, you cGPA will still be important and will be a disadvantage on your application.
